Grace LaPrade is an illustrator whose interest lies in exploring what it means to be human in our world, whether that be through small curiosities or grand imaginations. She is the creator of the picture book "Island House Mouse," which was awarded the Post Wave Prize for Illustration (Houlang Global Illustration Award) in 2026. As part of the prize, she went on a creative research trip in Anxi County, China, and her illustrations were displayed at the Shanghai Book Fair in China and Bologna Book Fair in Italy.
Grace also brings stories to life through murals and hand-drawn animation. Her animations have been featured at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, MO and the Buffalo AKG Art Museum in Buffalo, NY, and have accompanied an orchestral performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Since 2025, her animations have been touring with the improv show Tangled, which has had performances in New York City, Buffalo, Guatemala City, and San José.
Grace's upcoming picture books as illustrator include "The Magical Night" in 2027. Her debut as author and illustrator, "Island House Mouse," will be published in 2028 by Post Wave Children's Books UK. Grace lives and works in Buffalo, NY.
